Aiming High at Jenkins Court
A basketball court in the car park wasn't originally on the plans for Jenkins Court, Premier Properties' development in
Bagshot, but it became a temporary feature recently to welcome a VIP guest; Claire Maytham, Team GB bronze medalist at
the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The occasion: a mini coaching session to launch Jenkins Court.
Claire very kindly offered some expert coaching tips to members of the Surrey Heath Slammers, a local junior team whose
ages range from 11 to 17. Five boys and two girls played and it was surprising to note that one of the girls was the
tallest! However, contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be a towering 6ft 9in to be a basketball supremo: Claire
herself is of a much more modest height.
As Claire and Premier Properties' Matt Jelley shouted "open!" the team simultaneously aimed at the basket and one shooter
scored. It was an enjoyable fun event to mark the early success of the development, where ten luxurious two-bedroom
apartments have already been sold, and some are already occupied. One wonders if the new owners will start their own team?
