Premier Helps Local College in Safe Working
Four 16 year-old students at Collingwood College, Camberley have been given a helping hand in their new skills for working
life course, by award winning Premier Properties, luxury homebuilders, based in Tuscam Way, Camberley. To make sure the
students stay safe while undertaking practical environmental projects at the college, Premier Properties' sales and
marketing manager, Matthew Jelley, delivered hard hats, goggles and ear defenders last week.
"The school approached us as they wanted to encourage students to understand about various aspects of outdoor work," says
Matthew Jelley. "Naturally, they needed safety equipment - something that we take very seriously on our many construction
sites - so we were happy to help. I'm sure the course will give them practical experience that will help them in the
future."
"The environmental studies sessions are a new idea and students will be involved in a variety of activities around the
campus including cutting, digging and pruning, supervised by the college's site team and a member of the vocational skills
staff," added sixth form tutor Emma Clelland.
The students for the course are selected by the Head of Year and they choose skills as one of their options. External
training providers come in one day a week and offer vocational courses in subjects such as hair, beauty, motor vehicles
and construction. The skills lessons consist of employability skills and support.
