The Premier Golf Event Drives Money for Special Needs
TV star Tom O’Connor joined over 120 other golfers to help raise a staggering £40,000 in the Premier Children With Special
Needs Foundation golf day at beautiful Foxhills Golf & Country Club, Ottershaw in Surrey last Friday (30th June). The
event was sponsored by Camberley based developers Premier Properties plc and supported by Foxhills. Former Wentworth
captain Malcolm Walker and his wife Patsy, who joined the charity’s committee after raising money for it during his
captaincy year, helped to organise the day.
A superb day’s golf was followed by dinner, comedy entertainment and a charity auction to raise funds for the charity.
32 teams enjoyed the afternoon action in the Stableford competition, which included competitions such as ‘Nearest the
Pin’, ‘Beat the Pro’ and ‘Longest Drive’.
“This golf day is always a sell-out,” said Tom O’Connor said, “It’s a great day to take part in, joining businesses from
across the region to support the Children With Special Needs Foundation.”
The charity’s founder Gordon Parris said, “This year’s golf day was fantastic and I would like to thank everyone who took
part, sponsors Premier Properties and Foxhills’ staff who looked after us all. Money was raised through entry fees,
course competitions, donated auction lots and sponsorship.”
The Children With Special Needs Foundation was founded by Gordon and Anne Parris of Chobham in 1995 when Gordon was the
Mayor of Surrey Heath Borough. Since then the charity has raised over £1.5m, which has been used to bring happiness and
comfort to children with special needs.
